Pullstring's story

Pullstring is the modern everyday man rock band putting to words what it's like to be a young adult in the '20s. Hailing from the Twin Cities of Minnesota, they arrived on the music scene as venues began to open up following the lockdowns of the COVID19 pandemic.

Their brand of alternative rock is influenced by many artists throughout the decades and brings what fans call “nostalgic vibes'' to listeners. Pullstring’s palette of sounds ranges from bittersweet, thoughtful songs like “The Only Thing” and “Sunrise” to upbeat anthems like “Deadline” or “Sunday Afternoon.”

Pullstring has played to packed venues around the Midwest including 7th St Entry, Turf Club, and Mousetrap Tavern. In their first six months, Pullstring went from being strangers in a studio to releasing an EP and opening for an international touring alternative rock band at the 7th St Entry.
The following six months included their debut album release and a tour across the Midwest. What will Pullstring do next?

The band released their debut single "Sunday Afternoon" and their debut EP "Greatest Threads EP" in April 2022. Pullstring also released three singles ahead of their debut album release in late 2022: "Twenty Something", "When It Began", and "The Only Thing."

Their debut album "All I Know Is What I've Seen" was released on December 9th, 2022.

Discography

Press

"Sincere, sentimental and introspective, Pullstring explores human vulnerability and fragility in a heart-aching but simultaneously heart-warming way."

- Nicole Mendes, The Other Side Reviews (Jan 10, 2023)

"In short, the Minneapolis band are gifted not only in music but also in the warmth they radiate."

- Robin Mumford, Our Sound Music LTD (Dec 22, 2022)

"The up tempo energy of this track [When It Began] is quintessential indie rock; the chord changes on the chorus feel like they were probably first jammed out in a garage session. We mean that with the highest praise! The song feels like it has a gritty, rooted style to it. The vocals remind me a bit of what I first liked about Thrice’s Dustin Kensrue. I really appreciate the “don’t let life pass you by” line. There’s a lot of that going on with people merely enduring life; this song reminds us to live with joy and vibrancy. The expressive and energetic guitar solo accentuates the “seize the day” sentiment of the track."

- Greg Jones, Ear to the Ground (Nov 23, 2022)

"Pullstring have a knack for displaying their intention of the song within the first few seconds. There are no impulsive changes, the flow is maintained as a sacrosanct part of their passion for music."

- Bowe, Good Music Radar (Nov 18, 2022)

"With heart-felt lyrics, a sense of professionalism, and a sense of passion that radiated from the stage, I found myself wanting to move closer and closer to the stage with every song that they played."
